Growing up as a child, my parents did the best with what they had to give their children a better life. Yet, we experienced financial hardships that have impacted my life in ways I never imagined.
One of my greatest challenges in life was transitioning into and navigating young adulthood while living 3000 miles away from my family and never receiving financial education. Even though I was advancing in my education and career, receiving a BA from Howard University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California, I was receiving little income, in major debt, and had difficulties keeping up with the day-to-day expenses of life. I had no idea how to improve my financial situation other than working multiple jobs and hustling for my worth. My self-love was at an all time low and my negative self-talk was at an all time high. I felt defeated and hopeless, which was affecting all other areas of my life especially my financial outlook.
I spent over a decade working with families impacted by the foster care system as a micro and macro social worker. Witnessing over and over families getting reported to and staying in the foster care system due to financial issues, while also seeing the helping professionals like myself working with these families struggle financially inspired me to do something larger to help. I obtained my Certification in Financial Social Work along with my Certification in Financial Education Instruction and began my own financial healing journey.
Money trauma is real, but so is healing. With years of hard work and many slip ups along the journey, I improved my relationship with myself and my money and turned my finances around. I'm still on the journey, though. I'm unlearning old ways of thinking, learning how to love on myself fully, unpacking and processing old wounds, re-parenting myself, and working on new money goals.
Now I've just made it my mission to help others get their mind and money right and support them as they work towards their financial and life goals. I'm a living example that there is hope- and it is my calling to help you work toward greater financial wellness, so you can live your best life and achieve the financial peace of mind you deserve. I take pride in my services because not only are they changing individuals’ lives, they are changing the lives of families, and impacting generations.
